Storm Water Facilities

All storm water facilities are required by law to have a National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit.Ý As an NPDES delegated state, Ohio is currently implementing the federal storm water program through its EPA office.ÝIndustrial activity that discharges to waters of the state or through a municipal separate storm sewer system are required to obtain an NPDES permit, including those that discharge through systems serving populations less than 100,000.

Industrial and construction activities in Ohio currently have two options for applying for a storm water discharge permit.Ý The first option is to submit an individual NPDES permit application (US EPA forms 1 and 2F).Ý The second option is to file a notice of intent form (NOI) to be covered under a general permit.
